When my boys haven’t seen each other in a few weeks and their embrace makes me weak in the knees. I’m not crying you’re crying.
My daughter and I are eyeballs deep in Marie Kondo style cleaning and talking (more her than me) about places she wants to go and see and explore this summer. We are narrowing down some road trip options...so tell us your road trip ideas. We need options.
Have you ever wanted for something so bad it’s all you can think about? You wake up in the middle of the night with it on your mind, every morning you start your day with intension of moving closer to reaching it...I’m there y’all. I have set a goal for myself. A big one. A scary one. And to that goal I have attached what my life will look like if I can achieve it. I’ve spoken big things to myself. Things I’ve never felt I deserve. Things I never imagined I could achieve on my own. Things that are bold....and scary to even dream. But to my goal I have linked these thing to it and I want for it so bad I’ve given myself no option but to achieve it. If ever I have a drug, a drug for change, a drug for purpose, a drug for big things will be the drug of choice for me.
I’m ready for summer...slow mornings with my coffee, days full of laugher with my kids, the non-stop loads of laundry, the never ending meal prepping and cleaning in the kitchen, the bickering between siblings, the sweet taste of margaritas to drown out the misery...oh sweet summer time I’m ready for you.
I have a list of “to-dos” a mile and a half long. So today I’m taking a deep breath, turning on the music, and jumping in...I’ve already told myself I know I won’t get them all done today...or even this week for that matter. But if I can get anything done and marked off the list I’ll be proud of myself. And, most likely will reward myself with a cookie. So I’m tying my tennis shoes and busting this *ish out 👊🏼 • Remember when you feel overwhelmed, make a list of super achievable tasks and just do one at a time. Give yourself grace and reward your accomplishments. Be proud of what you’ve done. Even if it’s small. It’s still a victory that deserves a cookie friends....first on my list, drink coffee. Good job here’s a cookie. Second, brush teeth...ah there’s another cookie. I’m gonna kill today y’all. 😂
I woke up this morning with so much on my mind and things I need to do, things I HAVE to do, and things I want to do...I’ve been rushing all day trying to fit a weeks worth of “to-do” in a small window of time today. Which left me feeling so much anxiety. I was having a self loathing pity party, which happens to be more normal lately than I care to admit. I’ve been very out of alinement with where I feel I need to be with life and all the motivational quotes say to “just change it”. “One day will change your life”. I get it. But there are a LOT of things to take care of and shift as you decide to shift. So “one day” seems to be a joke. So while I wallowed in my sadness, I also got paid today with my “side hustle”. And then it reminded me I’m NOT as far off from changing my life as I often feel. It’s those little blessings that add up to one big oil changed life...and in the midst of exhaustion and change, I had a little reminder today to count the blessing I have right in front of my face. Moving a little is STILL MOVING FORWARD! So if you’re feeling stuck, in a rut, or just throwing a good old pity party remember it’s the little tiny shifts that make ripples that turn into the waves of change. Quit looking for the whitecaps....
My weekend was full. My heart is happy. Counting down the days until I get to see this one again...
It’s Friday ace. Wanna know a few weird things about me? • My middle name is Rae. Because what else would go with Spanki but Rae? 🤷🏻‍♀️ but my dad called me Spanki Dank. • Someone once told me if you wash your face twice you’d look younger so guess what...I go through face wash at lightning speed. 🤣 • I love to roll things. I know this one is weird and I probably shouldn’t speak this out loud. But if I’m eating dinner, I’ll pinch off a tiny peace of fresh bread, cheese, or rice and roll it until it’s almost gone. I don’t know why. • I can’t walk up stairs without counting in my head or pass mailboxes without repeating the number I saw over and over. Kinda like Rainman. Again. Weirdo 🙋🏻‍♀️ • I’m slightly dyslexic. I’ve never been diagnosed but I don’t need to be. It’s very obvious. So repeating numbers or keying in important numbers is so hard for me. • I have really hairy arms. But they are also super long and skinny. So I’ve been afraid to shave them in fear I’d resemble Inspector Gadget. (Except for that one time @kandi_edwards Let me drink too much and handed me a razor) 😳 • When I was in college I’d go to the bars and dance...like the kind where you spin and get thrown up in the air and twisted all around. It was great, and I never fell or got dropped. • Ok. I know there’s fellow weirdo lurking around out here...spill it people. What’s your weird tick?
This is reality. The truth is sometimes you just aren’t ready...man this is how I’m feeling about life right now. I’m not prepared. But I also know the beauty isn’t always in the perfection....even in the unpreparedness, in the imperfections...there is still beauty in every moment. Can I get an amen...
The weather in Texas is like the weather in Palm Springs...finally. It’s glorious. Too bad I’m too busy running errands to enjoy it before it’s blazing hot! Just looking at dreamy pics while I roll this cart through the grocery store isles. Just not the same. 🤨
